AMS Renewable Energy is seeking experienced Electricians for solar construction projects in Upstate New York. This role is ideal for a reliable, hands-on electrician who is comfortable working in the field, understands construction schedules, and can support the electrical installation of commercial and utility-scale solar projects.
The position requires travel to project sites in Upstate New York. Housing will be paid for by AMS for qualified candidates working away from home.
Responsibilities
- Install, terminate, test, and troubleshoot electrical systems for solar PV projects
- Support DC and AC electrical installation, including conduit, wire pulls, combiner boxes, inverters, transformers, switchgear, panels, and related balance-of-system equipment
- Read and interpret electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, construction plans, and specifications
- Perform work in accordance with NEC, project drawings, utility requirements, and AMS safety standards
- Support underground, above-ground, and equipment pad electrical installations
- Coordinate with site supervisors, project managers, subcontractors, and other trades
- Assist with testing, commissioning, punch list completion, and system turnover
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
- Follow all OSHA, site-specific, and company safety requirements
Qualifications
- Prior experience as an electrician on commercial, industrial, renewable energy, or utility-scale construction projects
- Solar PV experience preferred
- Ability to read electrical drawings and follow field installation details
- Strong understanding of conduit, wire management, terminations, grounding, and electrical safety practices
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation preferred
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 preferred
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Willingness to travel to project sites in Upstate New York
- Must be dependable, safety-focused, and ready to work in a fast-paced construction environment
Compensation and Benefits
- $80 - $100 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications
- Housing paid for by AMS for eligible traveling employees
