HR Generalist

Salary Range: $75,000–$100,000, commensurate with experience
Overview
AMS Renewable Energy is a fast-growing solar and energy storage EPC delivering commercial and utility-scale projects across the United States. We are seeking an experienced HR Generalist to manage day-to-day human resources operations for a multi-state, project-driven organization.
This role is based in AMS’s White Plains, NY office and serves as the primary point of contact for employees and managers on HR matters. The HR Generalist will execute HR operations, support managers, and ensure consistent compliance, working in coordination with in-house legal counsel on higher-risk matters.
Key Responsibilities
Employee Lifecycle & HR Operations
- Manage onboarding and offboarding for corporate and field employees
- Coordinate offer letters, new hire paperwork, I-9s, E-Verify, background checks, and HRIS data
- Maintain accurate employee records and documentation
- Process employee status changes, promotions, transfers, and terminations
Employee Relations & Performance Support
- Serve as the first point of contact for employee questions, concerns, and HR requests
- Support managers with performance documentation, corrective actions, and PIPs
- Ensure consistent and well-documented HR practices
- Escalate sensitive employee relations matters to leadership and legal counsel as appropriate
Compliance & Policy Execution
- Execute and monitor compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws across multiple states
- Administer leave programs including FMLA, NY Paid Family Leave, and ADA accommodations
- Coordinate required trainings, policy acknowledgements, and recordkeeping
- Support wage and hour compliance, timekeeping integrity, and employee classification
Recruiting & Hiring Support
- Coordinate job postings, interview scheduling, and candidate communications
- Ensure compliant interview and hiring practices
- Support offer execution and onboarding timelines
- Maintain ATS and candidate documentation
Benefits & Vendor Administration
- Serve as point of contact for employee benefits questions and enrollment
- Coordinate with benefits brokers, payroll providers, and HR vendors
- Support open enrollment and life event changes
- Administer COBRA and separation-related benefits processes
HR Infrastructure & Culture
- Maintain and operationalize the employee handbook and internal HR procedures
- Support manager training on feedback, documentation, and employee communication
- Assist with organizational structure, role clarity, and reporting lines
- Contribute to employee engagement and retention initiatives
Qualifications
- 3–6 years of HR Generalist experience
- Experience supporting multi-state workforces
- Working knowledge of employment law compliance and HR best practices
- Experience in construction, EPC, engineering, or project-based environments preferred
- Strong discretion, organization, and documentation skills
- Ability to work closely with legal counsel while owning HR execution
Preferred
- SHRM-CP, PHR, or similar certification
- Experience with HRIS, payroll, and ATS platforms
- Exposure to construction field labor, prevailing wage, or union environments
